Relief Does Not Spell Forsaken

When you experience tribulations, do you allow them to cause you to forsake attending worship service and Bible study? Somehow, Satan has convinced many that the way to spell relief from their dark days of troubles is to leave the church with a “Vacancy” sign in their usual seat. Hebrews 10:25 tells us we are not to forsake worship assembling.

The world may briefly soothe a troubled mind with various methods of vices like a David playing for the tormented soul of Saul, but it never can heal like the balm of Gilead Christians have come to know as Jesus.

God did not send His Son to die on the cross for us to run to the world that crucified Him when our peace and sanity is disturbed. He was raised like the fiery serpent of brass that Moses designed upon a pole for all to look upon if they desired to live (Numbers 21:8).

Christ is waiting for our overburden hearts to look upon Him in the hour of our tribulations. “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

He is the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6) whose services are free, but it appears many wishes to run and pay an analyst to reach the same conclusion that they have no peace of mind. What ear has the world to listen to our problems? What sympathetic ear will the earth render to pay attention to our cries? It is really true “Nobody knows the troubles I’ve been through?”

The world is quick to tell you, “You’ve got your troubles, I’ve got mine.” The Lord will listen. He listened to the cries of the Israelites in Egyptian bondage and sent someone to orchestrate their freedom telling them that He had seen their afflictions, heard their cry, and knew their sorrows (Exodus 3:7).

Conclusion

When troubles abound in our lives to disturb our peace and sanity, stay in the boat of Salvation and wait till your change comes. However, if it never comes in your lifetime and you have served Him to the end, He will just have to institute you in a ward called Heaven.

    1. Amen. Sadly, some forsake the assembly without a second thought but will not treat their secular job in the same matter. Thank you, big brother Matt, and enjoy your day.
