The Voice of Satan

When the devil sees a man or woman who really believes in prayer, who knows how to pray, and who really does pray, and, above all, when he sees a whole church on its face before God in prayer, he trembles as much as he ever did, for he knows that his day in that church or community is at an end. — R.A. Torrey

You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scriptures says without reason that He jealously longs for the spirit He has caused to dwell in us? But He gives us more grace.

That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. Submit yourselves then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:1-7).

Our mission is outlined in Matthew 28:19-20. Perhaps we forget sometimes the New Testament is speaking to Christians. Have you ever tried binding scriptures on those do not listen to the Shepherd’s voice?

I have been thinking more about my spiritual life and relationship with God quite a bit, and concluded not everything done in God’s name is authorized. Are we missing the mark on the original purpose of our God given assignment? All that seems good is not always authorized, at least by God, and all that says Lord, Lord, is not converted.

We must unfriend the world, be still and listen to discern whose voice is speaking to us? Sometimes Satan’s spirit influences us with opportunities to entice us away from God. We are told “When an impure spirit comes out of a person; it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’

When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation” (Mathew 12:43-45).

I am striving to make Heaven my home having no time to hear the voice that tempts us, that tells us to covet, to be afraid, to doubt the existing of God, to confuse us, to deceive or fool us with his lies, to harm us, blind us, rob us, enslave us, condemn or accuse us, to limit us, to charm us and deter us, to shift or agitate us, to discourage us, divide us, harasses us, distracts us, worries us, destroys us, separate us from God. He wants eternal company in the house of the Holy Spirit.

Final Thought

Are we following voices which hinder us from hearing the voice of God such as those in cliques; in other words, the in-crowd, the group, the inner circle, the pack, the crew and those who mean us no good on our spiritual journey.

Why is it easy to allow the voice of Satan to lead us instead of the voice of Jesus, The Great Shepherd? (John 10:1-42)

  1. Amen, we must “unfriend” the world. We can’t follow the evil dictates if this world and say we follow God. I also agree that we need to learn to be discerning knowing the strategics of the enemy so we won’t be fooled.
