What Does God Say About His Word?

“If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. If any man shall take away from the words of the book of prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life…” (Revelation 22:18-19)

Have you heard spiritual leaders misinterpreting Scriptures to justify their ungodly behavior and that of their favorite members, but rebuke others for doing something ungodly? Jesus showed compassion. God shows compassion, but never justify or accept our sins. Jesus told the man in John 5:14 to stop sinning before something worse happens to him.

What did God say about adding, subtracting or misinterpreting His Word? “Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.” (Deuteronomy 12:32)

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. The prophecy NEVER had its origin in the human will, but prophets, through human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)

“…nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before Him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

“You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it…” (Deuteronomy 4:2)

“… Do not omit a word!” (Jeremiah 26:2)

Final Thoughts

A spiritual leader attempted to change the interpretation of Scriptures to justify his ungodly behavior and that of his congregants. He was engaged to be married, but his future wife said that she is not sure there is a God. Instead of telling her the truth, obviously by his behavior he did not know truth, He was in agreement and said, “I am not so sure there is a God.”

They were married and he continued as the congregational leader. Even though this was a television show moved from my watchlist, I share since there are still false leaders who lead blind congregants due to not studying like the Bereans to see if they are speaking truth. (Acts 17:10-15)
