We secure online accounts with passwords and many of us have encrypted workplace identification badges. We purchase expensive security systems to protect our earthly possessions, but are extreme measures taken to secure the salvation of our soul?
“If you want to be perfect go sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come, follow Me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you; it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Again, I tell you it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle that for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.'” (Matthew 19:21-24)
Remember, lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust corrupt them and where thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. (Matthew 6:19-24)
It is okay to have earthly possessions and security systems as long as these things do not supersede our security in God. What about us? Is our soul security in Jesus strong enough that we cannot bear to be apart from Him nor can demonic forces steal our love and faith in Him?
