Dinner With The Devil

“When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.” (Proverbs 23:1-3)

I have been guilty of ordering meals that immediately appealed to my eyes, but soon regretted the decision because when served it did not look like the picture on the menu. Demonic forces have the same appealing affect when influencing us to sin against God. What is being offer looks good but when served brings forth death if we partake of it.

We must be vigilant sitting at dinner tables since demonic forces are placed before us to provide selective menus appealing to our flaws, vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Menus presented without spiritual foods must be returned with request for a different server and a spiritual menu that lists appetizers such as prayer, peace and partakers of God’s Word.

The main course should include self-control, shining bright, slow to speak and shower others with love. Since I like squash, some of my favorites on the spiritual menu are squashing gossiping, squashing insincerity, squashing false doctrine, squashing innuendos, squashing cliques in the Lord’s Body, squashing backbiters, squashing busybodies and squashing all other behaviors unbecoming followers of Jesus.

The desserts menu has sweet sincerity, sweet compassion and sweet genuine love for our neighbors regardless of race, color and ethnicity. We must always remember to leave tips of planting the Doctrine of Jesus; and watering and cultivating the seed of life with patience, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, integrity, godly morals, respect, with the sweetest icing the Plan of Salvation.

Warning! Make Sure You Are Not Having Dinner With The Devil.

  1. I can relate. I do all of my eating at home nowadays. I wanted to order delivery the other day from a restaurant but decided against it. Anyway, I have more time to read the Word of God. Jesus is Coming soon.

  2. I like this very much. For the first time in my life, I was exposed to a snake and got caught up in a situation that I had to repent and pray about. That menu item really looked like it was the right food, but it wasn’t. I think this post is really useful because it is God who tells us to test the spirits. Thank you for this. It is just a helpful reminder to stay aligned with God, God’s will and Word, and God’s purpose. God bless.

    1. Regina, thank you very much for sharing your experience. You are definitely right that Scriptures tell us to test the spirit to see if it is of God. I am thankful it serves as a reminder to us. We have all been snake bitten but we must stay in alignment with God’s Word as you stated. We will be influenced by demonic forces daily to sin against God. However, our loving Father made ways of escape to flee the wiles of the devil; we must use them even though at times, if we are honest, it is not always easy to do. Have a wonderful day/night and remain safe.
