What Is White Matter Disease?

In the same way, the sun never grows weary of shining, nor a stream flowing, it is God’s nature to keep His promises. Therefore, go immediately to His throne and say, ‘Do as You promised.’

Charles Spurgeon

A Brain MRI, memory test and other tests in April from post-concussion syndrome symptoms resulted in Mild Cognitive Impairment diagnosis.

Not reading reports after appointments is unlike me. Perhaps everything had to tie in for God’s glory! I reviewed April’s Brain MRI report on yesterday prior to sending to an agency and was surprised to read “Diffuse scattered white matter hyperintensities” are present.

“There is not a specific treatment, but the goal is to treat the cause of the damage and stop the disease from getting worse. Doctor may prescribe medicines to lower your blood pressure.” Wow! While enroute to Alabama last Thursday with a sister-in-Christ, my nephrologist’s nurse called.

Dr. SG had concerns about my monthly blood pressure report dropped off last Wednesday; Kidneys regulate blood pressure and I have a Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 2 diagnosis since May 2016. He immediately called in a prescription to start taking the same day. When we arrived in Montgomery, approximately 350 miles from my regular pharmacy, Publix had my pharmacy cancel prescription and transfer to them. Thank God.

My research revealed “Keep your blood pressure, blood sugar and keep your cholesterol in check which can also lead to white matter changes. I must keep my heart healthy, follow a low-fat, low-salt diet, and get about two and a half hours of moderate-intensity exercise each week.” God had already intervened without my knowledge with me joining a fitness center about two weeks ago located next to our subdivision.

Sickness get out of my way! There is healing! There is healing! I will do my best with what is required of me and trust God to do the rest!

Spiritual Mother Copeland’s devotion received yesterday was right on time, again. “Whatever you have need of is found in God. Are you seeking healing, restoration, peace, guidance, provisions, deliverance, salvation? Only God can satisfy and meet your needs. It is in Jesus Christ that we are fulfilled, restored, made whole, and saved. Only God can help you.”

Let your cares drive you to God. I shall not mind if you have many of them if each one leads you to prayer. If every fret makes you lean more on the Beloved, it will be a benefit. – Charles H. Spurgeon

FINAL THOUGHTS

I thank God and praise Him for allowing some of the nation’s top physicians to care for my temple of the Holy Spirit. I am thankful to my orthopedic surgeons, neurologist, cardiologist, gynecologist, pain management and primary care physicians, nephrologist, physical therapists, gastroenterologist, and hematologist/oncologist.

  1. Every time I think of you, I will be determined to redouble my efforts to carry on with endurance. After three months of my cataract surgery, I’m still not seeing clearly. The follow-up “eye appointment” was pure torture. I’m holding to my testimony in Jesus Christ, and you will help me to do that.

      1. You’re so welcome, Tangie. I’m so glad we are on this journey together. After being prayed over this morning by a friend a thought came to my mind,…”I’m made for a moment such as this!” God is going to use our tests as our testimonies! You’ve already inspired so many of us. I’m on day two of Chemo and I feel like, overall, I’m doing well with side effects (They did give me a shot to help with that). God bless you sister! ❤️💛🙏

  6. We are in the same camp. The Holy Spirit, when called upon fills in our deficiencies and we can concentrate on the joy all around us. I often imagine I’m standing tall with my arms stretched out on either side, then simply allow myself to fall into the loving arms of my Lord and trust this day will be arranged by Him and whatever happens I can trust Him with.
