When Temptation Comes My Way

“Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals the LORD GOD had made. (Genesis 3:1-5). How do we combat temptation from the great deceiver and his demonic soldiers? (James 4:7).

Do we rationalize to justify our sins but condemn others even though all have succumbed to temptation orchestrated by the great deceiver? (Romans 3:23-31). What happens when food is removed from a hot oven with bare hands? We get burned, right? The painful burns are consequences and reminders not to repeat action.

Why is it difficult to have the same mentality when it comes to being influenced by the great deceiver and his demonic soldiers? We understand there are consequences for every decision we make, rather good or bad; not all are bad unless actions go against the Word of God.

DEVOTION ON TEMPTATION

Spiritual Mother Sister Copeland sent this devotion to me in May 2021, and it is still relevant in May 2022. “We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet He did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)

GOD, You understand temptation; you know weakness. You came to the earth as a man, and you felt hunger and pain. You experienced temptation. You know my struggle; you’ve resisted the pull of comfort and sacrificed the pleasure of the fleeting in exchange for the satisfaction of eternal. You get me. It’s such a gift, LORD, to be able to approach you not with shame, but boldly, as one trying to overcome the very things you triumphed over.’ ‘

‘You don’t judge me, though you have every right. You empathize, and you point the way past today, past my weakness, and to forever. Aren’t you glad that GOD understands temptation and provided a way out?'”
