A Slap in Jesus’ Face!

“‘The high priest then asked Jesus of His disciples and of His Doctrine. Jesus answered him, “I spake openly to the world; I taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou me? as them which heard Me, and I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.’

‘And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by [slapped] Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?'” (John 19:21-23)

Can you believe Jesus was slapped? Wow! Jesus! Slapped! Unbelievable! The more I focused on the word slapped referencing Jesus I thought about not being able to count the times I slapped Him when I sinned against God.

Are you guilty of slapping God in the face? Are you guilty of putting Jesus back on the cross in word, thought or deed? Do we think about the indignities Jesus suffered at His so-called trial and His crucifixion?

The Bible says others were slapped in 1 King 22:24; Job 16:10; Jeremiah 31:19; Lamentations 3:30; and Matthew 26:67-68, and a few other scriptures.

FINAL THOUGHT

If Jesus’ slap received as much attention as the secular slap that was globally witnessed perhaps more people would be as intrigue and open the Bible and read about Him, His Gospel and the unjust slap!

    1. Thank you. I forgot where is home? You will do well and I remember your sermons. It is wonderful to see young brothers in Christ preaching the Gospel and working for the Lord.
