Churchians and Christians are like sugar and salt. You cannot tell the difference until you get a taste of them.” — Tangie Woods

We cannot acknowledge Jesus with our lips and walk out the door and deny Him with our lifestyle. — Unknown
God’s Word warns us in Mathew 7:15-16 to watch out for false prophets who come to us in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves, and by their fruit we will recognize them. Like the similar looking snakes above there are venomous Christians known as Churchians, and we must be vigilant of their duplicitous behavior.
Churchian is a slang term used to describe someone who attends church but is not perceived to be a ‘True’ converted Christian. A churchian might attend church because of family, tradition, or a desire to appear moral or virtuous. It is unlikely they will apply Christian teachings to their lives outside the church.
A churchian may pay lip service to Christian morality, but live a lifestyle condemned by Scripture or hold up others who do so as good Christian role models. A churchian’s understanding of Christian morality may come from only a few Cherry-picked Bible verses or may be completely unmoored from Scripture.

A churchian’s Christian witness is at best worthless and may even be damaging by portraying Christianity negatively. The sham Christianity practiced by churchians is called churchianity.
Churchians have a Biblical precedent in the Pharisees whom Jesus reproved for making a great show of their charitable giving to hide the true nature of their ungodly lives. (Matthew 6:1-6).
FINAL THOUGHTS
Our soul cannot afford cases of mistaken identities or us being the venomous snake known as churchians. “These people honor God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. (Matthew 15:8)
I couldn’t agree more with your opening quote! Very insightful!
