How Thirsty Are You?

As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God”? (Psalm 42:1-2)

Have you ever experienced physical dehydration? In 2016, I was not well and spent three days in the hospital due to dehydration and a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 2 “by chance” through lab work.

It was considered “by chance” for some but for me it was divine intervention. CKD can progress to renal failure if remained undetected. The first thing I was instructed to do was make a lifestyle change which included increasing water intake, drinking fluids containing electrolytes to increase kidneys’ function; and remove or limit from my diet potassium, phosphates and protein to decrease further damage kidneys.

Have you ever experienced spiritual dehydration? If so, did you take extreme measures outlined in the Word of God to hydrate your soul?

Spiritual dehydration must be taken seriously to slow down progression of sin disease. Sin disease leads to obstruction of the heart, mind and soul. It will progress to soul failure if we die in an unrepented state.

In the same manner with CKD, there are various stages in spiritual dehydration. It is imperative to make a lifestyle change including increasing Bible study and meditation to find out what must be done to be saved. If not, instead of dying from renal failure our soul will burn eternally in the lake of fire for not following Plan of Salvation. (Revelation 20:10)

In early stages of CKD, it is possible to reverse back to one hundred percent function. In the same manner, spiritual dehydration can be reversed if we drink the living water of God, and remove stumbling blocks from our life preventing damage to our soul? We must remain faithful until death.

Has spiritual dehydration made you feel like Demas and so many other who have returned to the world? We must be vigilant to replenish our mind with God’s daily recommended intake of scriptures and meditation to keep our soul replenished, refreshed and spiritually functional.

FINAL THOUGHTS

We do not question our medical providers who care for our body, so we should not question God’s Word which tells us how to care for our soul. How thirsty are you to save your soul from this untoward generation?
