The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:17)

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, I entered a store I had patronized since 2013. This past Saturday was my last day entering that store. Why?
The friendly store associate I have known since 2013 walked by me and said, “Take off that stupid mask so I can see your face.” Of course, I did not remove my mask and thought surely, he is not talking to me.
I casually walked through store and realized I was the only one wearing a mask, so it was twice obvious he was talking to me. I headed to the cash register ignoring Satan’s influence to address the comment when it was my time to stand in front of the associate.
Even though the man ahead of me had completed his transaction, the associate looked towards me with a smirk on his face while continuing his conversation. I could have left the store, but I waited patiently thinking not today devil, not today.

When the associate finally decided I was worthy to be checked out he treated me like scum of the earth. He ignored my long time greeting and never looked at me while I stood at the cash register. He handed me the receipt from afar not to touch my hand. I wondered was it really about my mask?
Why do we see one another differently or hate one another because God made different skin colors? “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and have given us over to our sins. (Isaiah 64:6-7)
I refused to give him satisfaction of responding in attempt to cause me to sin against God. My God’s light was going to shine bright in the darkness of this man’s heart. “Wow to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he has a short time. (Revelation 12:12)

Again, I wonder was it really about my mask? Or the color of my skin? There were two differences between me, the associate and other customers; I was the only Black person in the store and the only one wearing a mask. I am saddened to see civility is declining at a rapid rate and the devil’s influence is gaining global strength through those who do his bidding.
The world is full of evil and hardhearted people, and it sadden me to think many are in the Body of Christ thinking they are worshiping God in Spirit and in Truth. Matthew 24:1-51, talks about many being deceived and many will come in the name of the Messiah; we will hear of wars, and nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.’ Do we not see these things happening?
We live in times where the multitude follow every word that proceed out of the mouths of men instead of Jesus. We read ‘There will be famines and earthquakes, many will turn away from the faith, betray and hate each other and the love of most will grow cold. All these are the beginning of pain and sorrow.’ We are living in days of pain and sorrow!

FINAL THOUGHTS
Just like in the days of Noah people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them away. This is how it will be at the second coming of Jesus (Matthew 24:37-39).
QUOTES BY TANGIE
We are all kin through Adam and Eve. God judges sin, not skin.
Do not let the forbidden fruit cost you the taste of Heaven.
It was not about the mask. And I’m not so sure it was about color of skin. I believe he is a hostile person. Obviously he was controlled by something that the mask only triggered. I’d say it was political and wrong. To dislike someone because of their side of an issue (wearing masks) because of political policy that they see as inhibiting, is as insane as racism.

Agree “Obviously, he was controlled by something that the mask only triggered.” We must continue to pray for everyone and let our LIGHT shine in the dark world we once belonged.

I am sorry this happened to you. It’s interesting how a stranger feels he can speak with you in that manner and try to tell you what to do! Thankfully, you were able to maintain your godly character and not give in to the evil. Hugs…

Wow 😯 my friend. I am so sorry that you experienced this, but ungodly people will act in an ungodly manner even when they try to do differently

I love your skin color. I think you are beautiful. For the longest time (when I was younger) I used to try my best to get darkened skin. That is until I realized how bad it was for a person’s health to soak in too much sun. It always felt so good to just lay in the sun. I spent way too much time in it.
I really wish that all my life I had been as faithful to God as I was to soaking in the sun. He has always been faithful to me. But I am so thankful that He has me where I am now and all I want is to draw closer to Him.
Be blessed sister. Sending much love.

Thank you, Donna. I think many of us, in our younger days, perhaps had similar thoughts. I wish I was a Christian at a much younger age instead of being so dedicated to my secular position. I love where I am too in the Lord sister. Be blessed. 🤗

He is doing good. The truth will be shown in approximately a month or so. That is when he usually has the seizures.

Tangie, It is disheartening to see all the unkindness and controversy in today’s society. What happened to courtesy, respect, and kindness? I don’t understand why your preference to wear a mask should affect anyone else. I am glad you were strong enough to not respond. 🌺

Jeanne, it sure is disheartening. We must fight against the flesh daily to not allow the fruits of the Spirit to be weeded out. We have internal wars at times that require our steadfastness in the Lord to win internal battles. Thank you for your comments, have a wonderful day/night and remain safe.

I believe it’s the mask, but as I’m white, I can’t say for sure. However, I was given almost the same words and hostility from a local retail vendor (and from my own family, I might add) as well. Masking and vaccinating are high emotion topics. Crazy.

Sadly, masking and vaccinating are high emotional topics and I stay out of them. I have been in the store many times with my mask on and never a complaint, or mistreatment. There is also a mask mandate sign on the entrance door and others associates wear masks, but he was the only one working that day. His behavior was totally out of character that I was familiar with. If I was not the only customer that he mistreated that day, I would have thought he was just having a bad day. Thank you for reading and commenting. Have a great day/night and remain safe.

Regardless of his reasoning it was completely not acceptable, but what an inspiration and example you are for showing us all how to “turn the other cheek” like our Jesus. God bless you and you stay safe too.
