Nothing Lasts Forever (Guest Post)

Sister Cassandra R., one of the elder’s wives at my home congregation in Alabama shared this lesson written by Sister Cheryl McCall-Owens. Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall not pass away. (Matthew 24:35)

We have closets full of clothes, shoes and accessories that we may or may not wear. We build large accounts that we hope will last us and help make our lives easier. We nurture friendships and expect to have our friends in our lives forever.

Unfortunately, as much as we would like, and as hard as we try to hold on to what we have, the reality of real life is nothing lasts forever.

Friendships dissipate over time, money is spent, clothes and shoes become old and worn. We do have something that we can count on to last for all eternity, and that is the love of Jusus Christ, our Lord.

No matter where we are or what we go through Jessus is always there holding our hand and encouraging us to come a little higher and walk in our purpose. It is inevitable that we will stumble and fall along the way, but we have the choice to stay there or get up and try again.

While it is true that nothing lasts forever, from an earthly perspective, the lasting love of Jesus holds more intrinsic value than anything we own or could ever hope to have. Thank you God Amen!!!

Take a lesson from the fig tree. From the moment you notice its buds form, the merest hint of green you know summer’s just around the corner. So, it is with you. When you see all these things, you’ll know He’s at the door. Don’t take it lightly.

CHERYL’S FINAL THOUGHTS

I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for all of you [us]. This age continues until all these things take place. Sky and earth will wear out, My words never will.
