“The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does” (Psalm 145:13b). Are you searching for mankind to be promise keepers?

Have you ever broken a promise? Has anyone broken a promise to you? Luke 14:28-35 says to count the cost in our decision-making process but especially deciding to become followers of Jesus.
Our circumstances might change and shake our lives to the core causing us to fall from the faith. But the word of God is factual, it is bond and there is nothing ambiguous in the scriptures.
Many months ago Sister Copeland sent out this devotional title Our Trustworthy GOD. “Don’t you wonder what led to the psalmist’s conclusion?”
“‘What experiences had taught him that it is better to trust in the LORD than in people and governments. GOD proved His trustworthiness by keeping promises. God promised to deliver His people from slavery in Egypt: He did. God promised to send a Savior and King. He did.’

‘What a contrast to promises we make today. Consider, for instance, how many marriage vows are made “Till death do us part”—then broken. Or how many people promise to improve their behavior—and don’t. Or how many teenagers promise to be home by curfew—and aren’t.’
‘And then there are political promises. These can be so flagrantly broken that we wonder if the promise makers ever intended to keep them.’
‘Life teaches us, as it apparently taught the psalmist, that trusting GOD is better than trusting people and governments.’
‘Our GOD has always kept His promise and He always will. Thank You for being completely trustworthy, Lord GOD. You are a Rock for us in this unsteady world of broken promises.’

‘The Bible is the ultimate source for truth and God is faithful to fulfill all His promises….'” END OF DEVOTION
There is no doubt most of us have good intentions making promises but fall short on counting the cost. When I was young and ignorant, I agreed to doing things prior to hearing the requests and was unable to fulfil my promises.
“It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” (Ecclesiastes 5:5-6)
I learned hard lessons not to agree without hearing requests and counting the cost! I finally learned how to say No!

FINAL THOUGHTS
Romans 3:23 states we all fall short keeping our promises to GOD because all have sinned. Sadly, for some it is not imperative to honor and worship GOD in the Spirit and in Truth like we honor men and their secular policies, directives, amendments and other man breathed laws.

PERSONAL QUOTE
“We obey laws of man for fear of going to jail and disobey the word of GOD with no fear of going to Hell.” — Tangie T. Woods
All of his promises are yes and amen. Praise God for that.

Tangie I totally agree that God always keeps His promises!
Here is a thought: Are God’s promises always fulfilled in our lifetime? For Abraham it was not so. He did not see the fruit of his loins become mighty nations. Yes, God gave Him and Sarah a son, but they were impatient waiting for the promise. Sarah had her handmaid give herself to Abraham and Ishmael was brought forth. They tried to fulfill God’s promise on their own human strength.
Just a thought or two Tangie.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Right before I hit the published button my husband and I had a similar discussion about examples in the Old Testament.
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20). This is a great site https://www.gotquestions.org/promises-of-God.html
