Had It Not Been For The Lord

“If the LORD had not been on our side–let Israel say—if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us….” “Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of Heaven and Earth” (Psalm 124:1-8).

The above reference verses remind me of something the neurosurgeon said after he finished my Microsurgical Hemilaminectomies with Discectomy (back surgery) in 2015.

After approximately thirteen surgeries since 2009, mostly minor, I never wanted to hear the word “Surgery” again. However, that changed this week when another surgeon told me neck surgery is needed. We viewed the X-rays and saw several causes for the pain, swelling and numbness in my neck, arms and hands; there are discs and bone spurs pressing on nerves.

I have not made a decision to have surgery because I need to continue praying and talking with my husband. I do not take lightly having to make a decision to have another major spine surgery.

I have no doubt had it not been the LORD on my side, my body and mental state would not have been strong enough to withstand multiple surgeries and chronic pain for twelve years.

If GOD allowed the insurance company representative and me to agree fresh medical eyes were needed to explain my pain from a 2009 accident, I believe He will guide me into making the right decision. Lord willing, I will see the same surgeon on September 27 for my back and see a different surgeon on September 13 for my shoulder.

Approximately fifteen medical appointments are scheduled in September and October; some are on the same days. Even though I am exhausted sometimes, there are no complaints even while currently experiencing severe symptoms from a bacterial/sinus infection.

Prayers for the Week - Proverbs 3:5-6

I share my story to encourage others to remain steadfast in the faith and not allow distractions, including medical conditions, to remove you from the loving arms of GOD.

PRAYER

Sister Copeland is always on time when I need a specific prayer. This one was received this morning while working on this blog. It reads “GOD, no matter what I face, I want to place my trust in You. Give me the strength to faithfully and patiently wait for You to move–because I know Your plans are good.’

‘When I grow inpatient, please help me. When I grow tired, please comfort me. Help me to trust You at all time, and remind me that my faith in You is never wasted. You is never wasted. In Jesus’ name, Amen.'” END OF PRAYER

SPECIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The support and encouragement from you all are very much appreciated. May GOD bless you and keep you in HIS loving arms.

    1. Hello Sister Carr, this is one of my favorite childhood song my grandmother taught me. Today, I still walk around the house singing it. Thank you for your encouraging words and for being one of my precious spiritual mothers. I love you, and I am so thankful for GOD placing me in my home congregation when my life was in a very dark place. He knew exactly what I needed and where I needed to be. I definitely miss being part of the Benevolent Sisters. Have a beautiful day and remain safe.

  2. Father, I pray for my sister. May your peace and strength, go before her heart, be her portion. Pave the road, and the path, for You are the way. I pray for healing, take full control, and make the doctors say; but God! Indeed, had it not been, for The Lord! I Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
