The Snake and The Pit Bull

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelation 12:7-9)

Let us talk about this snake thing! A snake is describes as wily, treacherous, or malicious person. I do not like snakes, nor did I watch them on TV until a couple of days ago. Why? I was ready to get over my fear of snakes; therefore, I watched a show about them on the National Geography channel. It was difficult keeping my eyes on the screen but finally mind over matter prevailed.

Overcoming my second fear will come at a later date should GOD allows me to live long enough to master my fear of dogs. Having been attack many years ago by an unknown breed, I fear all dogs, including puppies, but more afraid of Pitbull dogs. Knowing the evil breed of the devil, why is it hard to have the same mentality about sin? If we have been bitten once by Satan, why do we return for more bites?

On the day I watched an episode about snakes, I visited one of my spiritual mothers, Sister Copeland. Approximately 30 minutes into our visit, she calmly said, “Look at him crawling.” I turned around to see a snake crawling behind me (in front of her) since we faced one another. We watched his movement to ensure he continued his path straight across her driveway.

When he made it far enough I jumped into my car and immediately backed out of the driveway. After leaving Sister Copeland’s house I went shopping and you would not guess what happened. Inside the store was a Pitbull dog on a leash walking with a handler struggling to keep him close to him. I watched them peripherally and it appeared that in every direction I went they followed.

I finally got much distance between them and made my way in the opposite direction. Does this reminds you of something? Yes. We must put much distance between us, the devil and his demonic forces known also as snakes.

I thought later that night about what could have possibly happened had we stayed in that area looking at plants, flower, trees and enjoying our time together. I am still trying to comprehend seeing a snake and a Pitbull dog in close vicinity, on the same day and within fifteen minutes. Did you notice my efforts to get away from the snake and the dog? Was this a coincidence? Was this a test of faith? If the situation was a test of faith, I failed.

FINAL THOUGHT

Seriously, please do not leave the salvation of your soul in the hands of mankind. GOD gave up His Son for the remission of our sins. He gave us His Truth. He gave us His Plan of Salvation. He gave us His way of escape so we are able to flee the devil’s influences. What are we giving Him?

Sadly, we sometime choose to walk right into the open arms of serpents saying, “You will surely not die.” Eve did not understand the scripture referenced a spiritual death.

SCRIPTURE

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore, many of them believed [the gospel truth]. Acts 17:11-12

  1. Hi Tangie, thankfully sister Copeland was the prescribed person there with you to demonstrate, “a spirit of calmness”. I do think that seeing both the snake and the pitbull was simply a coincidence 🤔. We love you and thank you for blessing us.
