Mind Your Spine But Mind Your Mind At All Cost!

I would like to start off with my special thanks to everyone for prayers and reaching out to see if I was okay, since I had not blogged in a while. Blogging was on my mind but my thoughts were no one would miss my blogs, or me. I was highly mistaken! After receiving phone calls, messages and last night’s encouragement from sisters in Jamaica, I promised to publish a blog this evening.

Even while writing this blog, one of my spiritual mothers called to check on me and the family, and also stated that she had not seen a blog in a while.

In the past three weeks, I had medical appointments in addition to going and back and forth, twice a week, to physical therapy because my spine is not in great condition. I was also dealing with specific secular issues that drained me mentally and contributed to daily migraines.

On last Sunday, my husband, Felton, preached a sermon titled ‘Mind Your Store House’ talking about the mind condition of Christians. He segued into his sermon speaking about the wonders of computers and how they have changed the world.

Our computers in a vulnerable state could allow hackers to take control our our system for their evil deeds. How do hackers take control of our computers? We open suspicious e-mails, non-encrypted attachments from unknown sources, download files from the web, and insert jump drives given to us.

Also, we neglect installing anti-virus software and updates which could prevent the malfunction of our computers. In like manner, we sometimes neglect our mind by not downloading and installing spiritual anti-virus software with all the updates written in the Bible.

I am adding a personal twist from my husband’s sermon to make the blog relatable to the condition of my spine, which is very important to my overall health, just as the mind is very important to the overall condition of our relationship with GOD and the health of our soul.

From a physical perspective, there are different options such as medication, injections, surgery, medical devices and physical therapy for temporary relief and to assist with improving the body mechanics.

From a spiritual perspective, biblical truth is the only option to care for the mind of the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Weak minded Christians could possibly be hacked in the course of experiencing physical pain. Hence, the importance of biblical knowledge, wisdom, understanding and obedience.

In addition to my spine injuries, I have developed arthritis and bone spurs in my back. Sometimes, the pain was excruciating that a cane was required to take baby steps. However, I maintained spiritual thoughts to continue building a beautiful soul.

Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart [mind] above all else. When we allow garbage in it will reflect outwardly in our words, thoughts and behavior causing painful consequences from betraying GOD.

Some people will do anything in an attempt to steal our identity, money, and information stored on our computers. Thank God for my husband keeping our computers’ software and anti-virus software updated. Several times I clicked on what appeared to be reputable links, but instead, our anti-virus software immediately intercepted the hackers attempts to access my computer. Let us be more thankful to God for giving us biblical instructions to keep our minds from being hacked by the devil’s intruders.

We must be mindful of how we program computers and where we allow our fingers to take us online. If we put garbage in our computers we will get garbage out such as viruses. We must definitely be careful where we allow the world to take our mind, and what we choose to retain–their words or the Word of God.

Mind your mind at all cost!

    1. John, I am feeling better since starting PT/MT again. I praise GOD for He is definitely sustaining and strengthen me to endure. Thank you for reading and have a great day/night and remain safe.

  1. Hello Sister Tangie. With so many followers, how could you feel you would not be missed? Have you changed mattresses lately? Sometimes a water bed is better. Or even a bed that allows one side to become elevated. Change doctors or try acupuncture. God gives us many ways to experience healings. Conventional ways sometimes need a little help. Stay strong. I’ll pray, too, for complete healing. Love yah!

    1. Greetings, those were thoughts from mental exhaustion dealing with a secular issue that I have now turned over to GOD. My doctors are some of the best specialists in Florida and in the nation. I always told my husband if we relocated, I would fly back to the awesome doctors that GOD allowed to provide me with the best healthcare. However, with so much trauma to my body from injuries sustained in 2009, I will continue to have flare ups. I had acupuncture, injections and back surgery–which made things worse. Our mattress is perfect and I also occasionally use my tens unit. I purchased from Whole Foods Turmeric tonic, Turmeric milk and Turmeric and Ginger tea which are great relievers for joint and inflammation. Physical therapy helped over the years and when I have flareups. I am thankful to GOD for His grace and mercy for helping me to endure and for allowing me to live in 2009, until now. Thank you for your comments, suggestions and prayers. Have a great day/night and remain safe.

  2. Hi Tangie, Yes you have been truly missed! I wanted to say that you have been “blogging” since 2010 way before, the term existed and social media existed, as far back as 2010, you would share topical readings, encourage us to read them and provide bibical evidence of the shared topical information. Thank you!
I read this particular paragraph, in this blog…
Several times I clicked on what appeared to be reputable links, but instead, our anti-virus software immediately intercepted the hackers attempts to access my computer.
It immediately triggered my mind back to a conversation I had with granddaughter, she said, ” if I were not a student of the Bible, I would easily be pulled into the foul things that my peers say and do! I agreed and thank God for her recognition that it is better to read and trust the word of God rather than the words and deeds of her peers!

    1. Pam, thank you for last week’s call checking on me and blogging status. I can honestly say from the day of meeting you many years ago, you have been faithful, checking on me even when I failed to do likewise. I appreciate you and your caring spirit and will do better in communicating with you, one of my cheerleaders. When you e-mailed me about three weeks ago sharing something I sent to you in 2011, I was surprised to learn that you still had those e-mails. Wow! I did not even have them. It is wonderful to hear about your granddaughter’s recognition. Have a wonderful LORD’s Day and remain safe.

      1. I recognized long time ago that you are a “Worshipper” and an a spiritual advocate for spreading the word of God and with knowing your stand for spreading the word of God, I have the upmost respect for you! Please enjoy the rest of Lord’s day as well!

      1. You’re so welcome Tangie! You are a special part of our community and I loved all of your sentiments on the hackers … i sooo agree (when you finally get around to Fir-Yay post you’ll see how much I relate. 😜
I agree… who are these people!
        I will and you too!🙏

  3. Thanks for your insightful analogies, it was just what my center of reasoning to hear. Oftentimes, what we allow in our minds ultimately lead us to our afflictions and demise. Learning about the truth of His Word and embodying that Spirit is what reminds us why we are here, for He is faithful.

I am grateful to see that you’re maintaining amidst your health issues, and hope that you and your family are doing well in these times.

    1. Thank you Infirmier for reading and sharing your thoughtful feedback. I concur that we must learn the truth of GOD’s Word. It is difficult sometimes because I have learned to not complain too much but instead do what is required of me physically and allow divine intervention if it be HIS will. I am feeling better and the family is well. Thank you and I hope you and your family are well and remaining safe.

  4. Your post reminded me of a Scripture found in Ephesians 6:17 about the “helmet of salvation”. I feel this is to protect our mind. Sadly, for I am guilty of this, we take the helmet off exposing our mind to outside thoughts. All through the Word of God we see things like, meditate on the Lord day and night”, “I will keep them in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee”. It is a tough battle because there is much things to distract us. When I was in high school in 1975 I took computer programming, we were taught, “garbage in, garbage out”. How true that is when it comes to our mind.

    1. Thank you for your feedback. I agree sadly we all are guilty. (Romans 3:23)

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand…” (Ephesians 6:12-13). I hope you are doing well and remaining safe.
