“When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.” (Proverbs 23:1-3).

“Then Judas, which had betrayed Him when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.” (Matthew 27:3-5)
Wow! Judas! A man chosen by Jesus to be part of His original apostleship. Can you imagine having walked with Jesus? How can someone like Judas betray our Lord and Savior? What could Judas have been thinking?
I would never betray Jesus like Judas! Wait! But I do betray Jesus when I sin in words, thoughts or deeds. Sadly, it is more likely that I, you, we, will betray Him again. Therefore, we should not quickly criticize Judas. (Romans 3:23)

Sadly, sometimes we put ourselves in positions to become prey for the devil when we lay aside our spiritual amour in weak moments. According to the Scriptures, Judas will pay a cost for hanging himself. Luke 13:3 & 5 tell us unless we repent we too will perish at the cost of losing our salvation.
What about you? What about me? Are we vigilant and sober-minded not to fall prey to the devil’s delicacies. He is doing his job in an attempt to feed our weaknesses, desires and vulnerabilities. He strategically put people, things and situations in our path to betray the LORD. Will you, I, we, flee or yield?
When we yield to sin, the devil walks away telling us our consequences to betray GOD have nothing to do with him. We choose not to flee and not to use GOD’s way of escape.

FINAL THOUGHT
We must be mindful that the permanent bitter aftertaste of sin is an eternal damnation sentence. Judas got caught up in a scheme and gave no thought about the salvation of his soul. Now, he waits to kneel before GOD to be judged and sentenced. Our salvation cannot afford to dine with the devil and eat his delicacies.

As a young person, it is easy to find yourself in weak moments, wandering away from God and falling prey to the devil and his temptations. But let me just say, I have learned in my short 29yrs of life, that if we find ourselves slipping, GET UP! Don’t stay in your sin, repent and start afresh, God is always there with open arms.

Key point to note as Christians. Our words, thoughts and actions matters and we need to be mindful of it. 💯

Hello Sister Tangie. Both of our blog messages mirror the same subject….”God’s Laws Matter”. As Christians, we cannot live with one foot following the Devil and the other walking in the Light. Yes, you are right, Satan will deny leading God’s people astray. But as I mentioned in my blog, to help us stay prayed up and to receive the power of the Holy Spirit to guard us against the wields of the Devil, we must confess our sins that so easily beset us, repent, then come to the Throne of Grace. Check out my blog…I feature Nina Simone.

Hi Tangie as you clearly stated,
“that we put ourselves in positions to become prey for the devil” and after I read that statement, I begin to think about when we don’t pray throughout the day, read and study scripture, attend Bible studies/ worship services and various fellowship engagements, the lack of us not applying these practices to our daily walk in Christ, will cause us to loose our spiritual focus as a servant of God!

Hello Pam, you are correct. All of your examples are when we lay aside our spiritual amour and become prey for the devil. Thank you for reading and sharing comments. Have a great evening and remain safe.
