How often do you read headlines starting with five people killed in head on collision? Four people killed in a head on collision. Three people dead after head on collision. Two people have died after a head on collision. On January 1, 2021, except for the grace of God, perhaps you would have read another headline of a woman and her twenty-three years old son killed in a head on collision; that would have been me and our son.

After taking our granddaughter home from two weeks of vacationing with us, William and I headed home East of Gainesville. There were approximately six vehicles heading West in the no passing zone. However, the driver of the last vehicle in that lane decided to pass all the cars putting him in my lane heading directly towards us. I panicked because the only two choices I had were to keep driving and collide, or swerve off the road into a ditch. The driver was not slowing down but instead sped up attempting to get back in his lane. Unfortunately, the other drivers would not slow down to allow him back in. I said, Oh Lord, this is it, we are going to hit head on!
However, God immediately cleared my path on the right just as we were literally about to collide. How? We came to the end of the ditch and I immediately swerve off the road to safety. I am so thankful for moving over in my mind to allow God to intervene as the driver. Instead of being another death statistic caused by a reckless driver, and my husband losing his wife and son, we made it home safely to share the experience with him. Instead of our daughters losing their mother and only brother, God saved them from grieving our deaths. Instead of our only grandchild losing her only grandmother and only uncle, she got to see us in worship service today.

We should not wait to allow such an experience for God to be the driver of our vehicles, in other word, our lives. If we want to be citizens of Heaven, we must follow His route, the Plan of Salvation. God created mankind, so how is it, we, the creation, can tell the Creator how to get to His Home.
I had two dangerous options during our experience! On our spiritual journey, we also have two options, Heaven or Hell with one route to each destination [obey God or disobey God]. So, my recommendation is to remove all the co-pilot signs and replace them in our minds with signs that God is the pilot of our life.

“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Sprit of His Son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:4-6) God sent His Son! Not man! Not woman! But His Son! My life is MUCH better with Jesus as my driver.

Who better than the Savior of the world to drive all aspects of our lives? My recent experience clearly know it works MUCH better with Jesus driving with us following behind Him on the Plan of Salvation!

So grateful God protected you! Excellent insight! In thes dark days we must allow Jesus to take the wheel. Ultimately God is in control and we should be at peace knowing that. Blessings back,

It is those moments that the Lord God intervened in my life in miraculous ways that convinced me of the reality of the Father, Son, and Holy Soirit and of the truth of resurrection and a second coming of Christ. So glad you and your son are okay. Praise be to God! Yes, He is not a lowly co-pilot, as if I am equal to Him. His ways are greater and better.

WHen I read your post I thought of the old hymn, “Jesus Savior Pilot Me.” There used to be bumper stickers years ago that said, “God is my co-pilot” but I think letting Jesus drive is a whole lot better.
