“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

Have you ever overcame hardships that felt like the weight of the world was lifted off your shoulders? Even though we are not of the world and our citizenship is in Heaven, we are not immune from things of this world. Current examples causing hardships for many are the pandemic, death of sole financial providers, loss of employment, change in marital status, and laws that are contrary to God’s laws.
We obey laws of the land for fear of going to jail. We disobey laws of God with no fear of going to Hell. – Tangie T. Woods

Perhaps we would not have to continue bearing undue hardship if we conscientiously and diligently learn of God and His promises. He can heal broken hearts and help lighten responsibilities and pain if we just cry out to Him. I know this to be true from personal experience.
Although we live in this world we are not of it. We need to stand firm in the faith without wavering. If we do this perhaps our 2020 global spiritual spanking from the wrath of God will not be repeated in 2021.

In Matthew 10:28, Jesus told us not to be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can sentence the soul and body to Hell.
“People are not going to Hell because God don’t want them. They are going to Hell because they don’t want God.” — Felton Woods
FINAL THOUGHT
Our weight is heavy enough trying to ensure we live righteous to save ourselves from this untoward generation. We have been given everything that pertains to life and godliness so let us not attempt to carry burdens that feel like the weight of the world.
Jesus deserves all the Praise when we think of the weight He’s carried

Count me in as one that didn’t know what a yoke is, at least not the kind you are referring too. Thank you for teaching me something new!

A very powerful message. I like the two quotes by Felton and you. We forget about God’s law and pay more attention to man made laws since the society around us has conditioned us this way but we should wake up. Give more focus on nuturing our spirituality and connectedness to God, know that we are visitors on a journey and therefor guard our souls. Have a Blessed new year.

Good morning and thank you for reading. You are definitely right about allowing ourselves to be conditioned by society and man’s laws. At all cost our souls need to be guarded. Have a wonderful day and remain safe.

Happy New Year Tangie!
Here is a thought, I wonder how many of this generation would know what a “yoke'” is. I have a feeling not many without looking it up. Do they know what a yoke was used for? Do they know it was put around the oxen to pull plows to break up the soil? It was a burdensome thing and heavy. I feel that some translations lose the deep picture. With sin it places a yoke around our neck and we have to pull the weight of sin throughout our lives. The cross was a heavy burden, a yoke, that Christ had to carry on His way to Golgotha. On his way He stumbled and a man stepped in to help him make it the rest of the way. The cross was Christ’s yoke and He broke that yoke by the shedding of blood.! Again, just a thought, sorry I did not intend to be this long.

Good morning, you are definitely right. My husband defined and explained “Yoke” in a recent sermon. I agree with you about some translations. There are too many translations now where mankind added their own meaning without understanding or believing what the Scriptures tell us about adding and subtracting from God’s Word (Deuteronomy 4:2 &12:32; Jeremiah 26:2; Ecclesiastes 3:14; Revelation 22:18-19).
No apology needed. I appreciate and like to hear other bloggers thoughts. Bloggers on WordPress know how to express themselves respectfully. Have a wonderful day and remain safe.

Thank you Tangie! Here is my feelings about sharing back and forth, the Bereans it is said that they searched the Word to see if things were so. They only had the writings of Moses along with the prophets and that which was handed down throughout the ages.
This is what I enjoy is the discussion that happens through the comment section.
