“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
How many of us have security systems in our cars, in our homes, or both? When I lived in Alabama many years ago someone broke into my house while I traveled to Key West, Florida. In a rush, I left the house vulnerable and accessible because I did not remember to activate the security system.
As free moral agents, it is our personal responsibility to unlock God’s word with an open mind, and apply biblical commandments on our daily walk towards Heaven. So, what about the Temple [House] of the Holy Spirit? Are we securing vulnerabilities and entrances to our soul?
Or, are we too busy with our various personal roles in life to pay attention? How do we activate our spiritual security system? Using scriptures, the key, that lies within an open Bible.
Let us not forget Jesus gave up His life to save ours, and His blood is the only security system, for the remission of sins, which affords us the opportunity to save ourselves from this untoward generation. (Acts 2:40)
Therefore, it should matter that we live a life of godliness that reflects the faith we profess and the Lord we represents. It is crucial to our eternal destiny to keep the live feed to the Savior activated.
FINAL THOUGHT
We secure online accounts with passwords and employees’ identification badges with personal identification numbers. We purchase sophisticated security systems to protect our earthly possessions. But as Christians are we taking such extreme measures to secure our most valuable inherited possession—our soul?
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
Do we enjoy traveling with the luggage of worldliness that prevents us from remembering to activate our spiritual security system, the only Mediator, between us and God? (I Timothy 2:5)
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world [possessions], yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? (Matthew 16:26)
SUBJECT RELATED SCRIPTURES
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:9-11)
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come, follow Me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven.” Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needed than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:21-24)

Yes. Tangie, we do secure online accounts with passwords and employees’ identification badges with personal identification numbers. We purchase sophisticated security systems to protect our earthly possessions, according to 2Peter 3:9; God has forewarned us to not be slack concerning his promises. Christians must continue to take extreme measures to secure our most valuable inherited possession, which is our soul! Staying focus on reading and studying the word of God and living a through spiritual demonstration.
