My Mind Is A Spiritual Battlefield

I had my first acupuncture appointment on Monday, August 31, 2020. I always schedule as the last patient because it affords me adequate time to discuss my concerns without physicians rushing to see other patients. Now, with our Lord and Savior, there is no need to schedule last appointments to spend additional time with God. He is available to hear all our concerns, simultaneously, in prayer through Jesus, the only mediator between Him and mankind. (I Timothy 2:5)

Before the doctor logged into his computer to review my electronic medical history, we talked briefly about my numerous medical conditions, and what he deemed as the best solution. After an in-depth study of my record, he gave me two options after explaining and showing the differences between traditional and battlefield acupuncture. I agreed on battlefield acupuncture. Why? This doctor has years of experience and still serves as a military officer and flight surgeon treating soldiers on battlefields with battlefield acupuncture. As we know, soldiers cannot complete their mission and honor the allegiance to their country when experiencing chronic pain.

The enemies look for the weakest soldiers to overtake opposing military troops just like the devil looks for the weakest Christians. When these troops are experiencing pain, they cannot focus and give their full attention to their commanding officer, nor are they able to focus on the directions of bullets coming to destroy their camps. As a Christian, I am extremely thankful to God for allowing medical specialists to acquire the knowledge to care for the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

Later in the day, I thought about our conversation, and realized as a soldier in the Army of the Lord, my mind, too, is a battlefield fighting daily against rulers and the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil. The needles from battlefield acupuncture penetrated my ears to relieve my physical pain. But it takes our ears to hear the Word of God to penetrate minds, bodies, souls and heal everlasting pain in Heaven. Spiritual acupuncture, the Gospel of Jesus, transforms our minds to prevent us from being overtaken by the devil and his troops. Satan directs his evil bullets at us from all directions, in an effort, to overtake us by sending his demonic troops to entice us in betraying our Commanding Officer, God.

My battlefield acupuncture consists of ten small gold-plated needles placed in my ears (five in each ear) to reduce physical pain, and they will fall out on their own. It never occurred to me that the entire body is represented through our ears. Perhaps, that is God’s reasoning for giving us two ears and one mouth to listen twice as much to the Word of God, and do less talking about things and people who cannot get us from earth to glory. There is also the possibility that we would speak more about God if ears were penetrated by the Gospel of Jesus. Perhaps, instead of laborers being few, laborers would be plentiful, to deliver the Gospel to all nations baptizing people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (James 1:19 & Matthew 28:19-20)

Unfortunately, we fall out with God and falsely charge Him when He does not intervene in the midst of our storms. If He intervenes, or not, we should still trust in Him with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding. Instead of falling out with God, the Holy Spirit should be acknowledged, and allowed, to lead and keep us on the straight path.” (Proverbs 3:4-6 & Proverbs 28:26) When we remain steadfast during storms, perhaps He would stay the hands of our storms and put a hedge around us, when, and, if, He deems to do so. Regardless, let us be mindful that we must suffer the consequences of our decisions that had nothing to do with God. We do not want to even attempt fighting a spiritual battlefield without the Lord.

Christians soldiers need to be alert, with sober minds, while fighting a spiritual battle to prevent enemies from invading our camps and infiltrating wickedness into our minds. We must not be unaware of the devil’s clever schemes as soldiers in the Army of the Lord. Our protection requires the whole armor of God to neutralize Satan’s troops. It is imperative that we are rooted and grounded in the Word of God, and allow the Holy Spirit to activate our spiritual warfare tactics to resist and overpower demonic troops. For me, I pledge my allegiance to God and look forward to my citizenship in Heaven.

Soldiers in the Army of the Lord should always stand in attention and fight demonic forces. With God at the realm, we will not lose our spiritual war. It requires dressing our souls with every Word that proceeds out of His mouth written in scriptures to not succumb to the devil’s schemes. Every Word of God is flawless and He is our shield unless we are disobedient to His Word only without adding, or taking away from it. If we do so, He will rebuke and reveal us as liars.” (Proverbs 30:5-6, Revelation 22:18-19; Deuteronomy 4:2; Deuteronomy 12:32 and Matthew 22:28-29; Mark 7:12-13; Matthew 24:24)

Hell is real, and mastering and overcoming sin are crucial on this spiritual journey. I know some people do not believe Hell exists, but for my soul’s sake, I believe God’s Word, over the words of mankind, who too must stand before God to be judged. Following are some scriptures proving that Hell indeed exists (Revelation 21:8; Matthew 10:28; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:10; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:41; Matthew 5:22; Revelation 14:11; I Thessalonians 1:9; Matthew 13:50; II Peter 2:4; Jude 1:7; Revelation 20:14; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20; Luke 16:19-31; Mark 9:43; John 3:16; Daniel 12:2; Acts 2:27)

Coming to an end, my right ear was itching so bad this evening I decided to soothe it by rubbing around that specific needle. However, I realized that was a mistake when I heard the needle hit the floor, and I felt warm blood dripping in my ear, face and down my neck. I jumped up, and immediately ran to get peroxide and alcohol wipes, to sanitize the area while praying it does not get infected. By the way, the battlefield acupuncture stopped my pain and my follow-up appointment is in four weeks.

Sadly, when Jesus felt His warm blood dripping down His body, and saw it dripping down the Cross, He could not jump off to stop the bleeding and care for His wounds. Why? He loved us too much to be selfish and He chose to be obedient to the will of His Father. Are we anchored in the Lord in obedience?

“The Lord takes pleasure in His people and crowns us with love, humbleness and the opportunity for eternal salvation. Let us, holy ones, rejoice in honor.” (Psalm 149:4-5) I leave you with “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:6-8)

  1. This is an excellent post. It reminded me of the importance of our spiritual armor, the helmet of salvation, and all that it covers. Our head, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and mind. Then writing about the blood that dripped down the head of Jesus and how He did not jump down to clean it up, I could see. Well written and very edifying. Keep up the good work that you are doing, and God bless you.

  2. We do need to always be alert and be of sober mind. They had a saying in the army, “stay alert, stay alive!” I’m thankful we can call on the Lord anytime and anyplace. Acupuncture sounds like an interesting process. Glad it’s helpful to you. Do you know if it helps arthritis?

    1. Thank you for reading, sharing comments and I agree with you. Battlefield acupuncture is for pain so perhaps it is good for arthritis. If you cannot find out online you can call the doctor’s office to ask, the number is (352) 373-4321

  3. I loved reading this Tangie, it was inspirational. Especially with everything that tends to strike worry in the heart.
I try to go to appointments in the morning, first thing out of the way, LOL. Too busy otherwise.
This is a good way to relieve pain, and my husband was getting this on his knee.
So if the Lord allows it to work, it will work. He gave us doctors and medicines for a reason. Praise God!

    1. Thank so much for reading and commenting. I agree if the Lord allows it to work it will and thus far has been, but wearing off now. I still give our Lord thanks for life despite pain. Have a lovely evening and remain safe.

  4. Greetings, battlefield acupuncture was my last options to longer pain relief. In 2009, I sustained numerous injuries which resulted in approximately two and half to three years of physical therapy. I had approximately fifteen surgeries including one on my back, three on my hands and three on my legs and various other surgeries. I tried meds in 2009 and 2010 but did not like how they altered my mind. I had numerous pain injections throughout the years but relief was short lived. In March 2020, I received six injections in my back (same time) and they lasted less than two months. My pain management physician recommended acupuncture. I have been suffering with chronic pain since 2009, and I also have Chronic Kidney Disease State 2 and MUSG (precancerous).

Decision regarding my physical body was not based on Romans 8:6-8. I was comparing the carnally and spiritual minds. Thank you for reading and remain safe.

  5. Sister Tangie, what made you decide on using acupuncture treatments rather than conventional medicine? You made a strong statement in your blog: “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Please share in a blog if your actions were based on the latter part of your quote. I love to read about other people’s conversations with God.

    1. Good morning DeborahMarie, you are definitely correct. Thank you for reading and sharing feedback. I am feeling better praise God and hoping this acupuncture last longer than the six back injections received in March. Unfortunate for me my entire body hurts from so many different medical conditions, but I rest in the peace of God sustaining me. Happy Sunday.

    1. Traditional acupuncture uses long needles and that is why I never considered it. Even having lab work for so many doctors every three months for years (different specialists looking for different things) I hate the needles most. I turned my head and talk to God while blood is drawn.

Battlefield acupuncture consists of very short needles studs that you can hardly see and painless for me. It took the doctor about ten minutes to place ten studs. I like sharing real life experiences in hope of helping someone else. Thank you for reading and sharing comments.

    1. Thank you for reading and sharing comments. In an effort to help and encourage others I prefer using real life experiences like Jesus used parables to help us understand specific situations. I am also blessed when the inspired Word of God helps others to connect and be encouraged. Have a wonderful day.

    1. Thank you, praying it lasts longer than the sick back injections received in March. Which type of acupuncture did you receive? How long was your pain relief. Thank you for reading and commenting. Enjoy your day.

      1. I’m not sure what type of acupuncture that was, but my doctor was explained to me about opening up my Yang (I’m mostly Yin). It only took one session and my Lumbar pain was instantly relieved. I have it done regularly for other ailments like migraine and muscle spasms.

  7. Standing with you for all the best that the Lord has for you dear. Blessing to yo. Your post is so inspirational, often we are not ready for the battle but we prepare as the battle will surely find us.

  8. Tangie, I’m going to try acupuncture. God has been so good restoring most of my health. However, my neck is a mess from my accident. As a soldier, I’m on alert! Your writing is always inspiring. When you wrote of the bleeding, and compared it to Jesus, it spoke straight to my heart. God bless you! And prayers for continued good health.

      1. You can also try using a Tens Unit, purchased from a medical supply store, for $45, without a prescription. For me, it is also a great way to relieve localized pain temporarily. Please research it Dual Channel Transcutaneous electrical Nerve Stimulator and speak with your doctor about it.

    1. Praise Him! He is an Awesome God who prepared the minds of men to medically care for the bodies of the Holy Spirit. I am glad to hear it is helping you too. My back surgery was in August 2015, when did you have surgery?

      1. I have been in very bad pain bad surgery and now I’m a little concerned but I trust in the lord as well for when my insurance runs out in a few sessions. God will provide 🙏 a way. Trust in Him i was a little nervous to waist time but between swimming and acuointure I feel almost 40/00 better. I prsy it will keep working after the therapy because I dknt have 85 dollars a week for the cost. I pray I will not need anymore then once a month that I can save. God bless you.

    2. If your pain is localized to a specific area I suggest trying a $45 Tens Unit, it works wonders. My problem is having many medical issues that affect my entire body. It is often difficult to pin point exact cause of pain. My neck, shoulder and back are main factors of pain. The Tens Unit can be purchased from a medical supply store (without a prescription). It is a dual channel transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator and would save you a lot of money from having to see a chiropractor weekly. Try it and see if it helps. Perhaps a chiropractor would not recommend it because they are in business to make a profit. But I see ten of the best specialists in the State of Florida and my pain management physician prescribed it for me and it helps temporarily. Fortunately, for me, I do not have to pay for my medical expenses so if I learn something on my journey that perhaps can help others I will share it. Tens Unit, research it.
