Spiritual Dehydration To Spiritual Hydration

Physical health of our body is important because it is the Temple of the Holy Spirit; and scriptures also tell us to enjoy good health but ensure our soul is well. (3 John 1:2, Proverbs 4:20-22 and I Timothy 4:8)

When I was diagnosed in 2016 with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 2, my hematologist/oncologist immediately referred me Dr. G., Nephrologist. After my first appointment with Dr. G., he expedited my blood work to assess kidneys damage and discuss action plan to slow down disease progression. I immediately followed his medical instructions and guidance to stay hydrated. Also, I eliminated approximately 80% of foods I had eaten over forty years, and replaced it with organic foods, raw and steam vegetables, fruits and healthy organic fluids to nourish my kidneys. This was difficult, but I did it.

Physical dehydration is harmful reduction in the amount of water in the body that occurs when much fluid has been lost, and not replenished, and the body can no longer function normally without healthy kidneys flushing out toxics. If immediate action is not taken, it eventually takes a toll on the body leading to Stage 5, renal failure.

Maintaining hydration and renal diet are crucial per my nephrologist. Why do I believe him? His expertise in kidneys function has been proven by many years of college, medical school, boards and years of experience. He has shown genuine concerns for my overall health to keep kidneys functioning, prayerfully, without future help of dialysis. There are even apps to download to help keep us on health goal target.

Why do you think it is easier to make drastic changes to prevent progression of medical conditions on the word of man but complain about making drastic changes to prevent spiritual dehydration jeopardizing our soul’s salvation to eternal damnation?

spiritual dehydrtion

Now, let us talk about spiritual dehydration. On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7:37-39)

From my personal perspective, due to corona virus, I believe one can quickly become spiritual dehydrated when connection to God through the mediator, Jesus the Christ, has been lost. Symptoms of spiritual dehydration of abled-body Christians are lack of worship to God causing one to feel weary towards Him; forsaking assembling together in worship services prior COVID-19 pandemic, lack of interest watching online sermons and Bible studies; not studying and meditating on God’s Word; and imitating worldly behavior in our words, thoughts, deeds and apparel. God said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)

Spiritual dehydration symptoms must be taken serious. Otherwise, conditions worsen and eventually obstruct the mind and body. It will definitely take a toll on our soul’s salvation if immediate corrective action is not taken. Just like Dr. G., expedited my blood work to evaluate the condition of my kidneys, God expedited His Son’s blood through His crucifixion knowing the condition of our soul.

God wishes no one to perish and told us through His word to save ourselves from this untoward generation. We must daily visit the only spiritual healing physician, Dr. Jesus, to fill our prescriptions with biblical commandments to refresh our soul.

I try not to let my kidneys thirst for water but Jesus thirsted for our soul and rose refreshed giving us the avenue for repentance. However, we can easily drift away to Satan’s workshop if we do not maintain our awareness and perform daily self-examination. Satan’s influence is no joke and should not be taken lightly. Remember, he even tried to entice Jesus.

How do we nourish and replenish our soul? We must consult the Bible for detailed instructions for mind, body and soul hydration.

  2. Oh Tangie, what a breath of fresh air you are! The Living Water of Christ flows out of your words and reaches into the depths of our very souls. You are an inspiration and a joy!

I am deeply sorry for all you have endured in your physical body. But I am incredibly grateful you have the strength of Christ, holding you every step of the way. I know that doesn’t take the pain away and doesn’t make it an easy journey. Yet, having a close walk with the Lord sustains us when we feel we can’t go on any longer.

I adore this line: “We must daily visit the only spiritual healing physician, Dr. Jesus, to fill our prescriptions with biblical commandments to refresh our soul.” — Wow, what a beautiful reminder to daily get our fill of King Jesus. I love the quote, “If your relationship with Jesus feels distant, who moved?”

Your gift of bringing physical realities into spiritual truths is powerful, moving, and speaks of the anointing on your life. What the devil means for harm, God has certainly turned around for your good.

Thank you for sharing your heart, God’s heart for us, and the wisdom He has granted you daily. You are deeply loved & appreciated!

    1. Holly, thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words. At times, Satan definitely tries to move me from the love of God due to my health, but by His grace and my faith I am still standing and remaining in the arms of the Lord. I recently got another medical diagnosis with my eyes but I refuse to move from the arms of the Lord. l am blessed to have a loving and supportive husband; our children, spiritual mothers and a very few supportive extended and spiritual family members.

I am also happy to be in a wonderful blogging community who offer encouragement and inspiration to one another. For example, your kind and warm comments and so many other bloggers. It is amazing how many bloggers who do not personally know me but are constantly checking on me, my health and offering prayers. The interaction among us is awesome and I enjoy it very much.

  4. I love how comprehensive you made this by illustrating physical dehydration. A lot of the times I look at my spiritual health as something that can only get better, never worse and admittedly it leads to neglect.

    1. Thank you for reading and commenting. I was informed it is usually not discovered in patients until Stage 4 or 5 when symptoms appear. It was by God’s grace I was diagnosed early ending up in the ER for something else and was admitted. At the time my hematologist / oncologist was the hospital chief of staff and directed them to run every possible test and it was discovered. I have some of the top specialists for for every part of my body and they coordinate my healthcare. I told my husband if we ever moved, I would fly back to Florida for my appointments. Looking at me you will never know I have many health issues. All glory to God.

      1. Amen to that! Father God is so very good to us!👑. Praise God for surrounding you with doctors He put His wisdom in! I read you also changed your diet to all raw vegetables and fruits and plenty of water. Are you still on that diet? It really mades a big difference what we eat! I hate water, but in the past six months I have been making myself drink two 16 oz. bottles of water each morning before eating or drinking anything else. It has made a big difference in my body. Well I thank Father God for His divine keeping power in your life. What a beautiful testimony of His power and you displaying His glory! 🥰 AWESOME!😇👣

    1. Definitely. God has blessed me with some of the best top specialists. I told my husband if we ever move I would fly back to Florida for my appointments. Looking at me you will never know I have health issues and had approximately 15 surgeries since 2009, spine pain relief injections and several years of physical therapy. God is sustaining me through it all. All glory to Him. Thank you for reading and commenting.

  6. My mom was not educated well in nutrition and I hardly saw her drink water. She passed away shortly after finding out she had stage 5 kidney failure. I need to have a check up to see how I’m doing. I’ve been studying nutrition and staying hydrated. You’re doing the right things. Wishing you many blessings!

    1. I am sorry to hear about your mother. My mother-in-law died as well. I was informed it is usually not discovered until Stage 4 or 5 when symptoms appear, then too late. It was by God’s grace I was diagnosed early after ending up in ER for something else and was admitted. At the time my hematologist/oncologist was the hospital chief of staff and directed them to run every possible test; it was discovered.
It sure would not hurt to have labs and creatinine checked.
