Physical health of our body is important because it is the Temple of the Holy Spirit; and scriptures also tell us to enjoy good health but ensure our soul is well. (3 John 1:2, Proverbs 4:20-22 and I Timothy 4:8)
When I was diagnosed in 2016 with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 2, my hematologist/oncologist immediately referred me Dr. G., Nephrologist. After my first appointment with Dr. G., he expedited my blood work to assess kidneys damage and discuss action plan to slow down disease progression. I immediately followed his medical instructions and guidance to stay hydrated. Also, I eliminated approximately 80% of foods I had eaten over forty years, and replaced it with organic foods, raw and steam vegetables, fruits and healthy organic fluids to nourish my kidneys. This was difficult, but I did it.
Physical dehydration is harmful reduction in the amount of water in the body that occurs when much fluid has been lost, and not replenished, and the body can no longer function normally without healthy kidneys flushing out toxics. If immediate action is not taken, it eventually takes a toll on the body leading to Stage 5, renal failure.
Maintaining hydration and renal diet are crucial per my nephrologist. Why do I believe him? His expertise in kidneys function has been proven by many years of college, medical school, boards and years of experience. He has shown genuine concerns for my overall health to keep kidneys functioning, prayerfully, without future help of dialysis. There are even apps to download to help keep us on health goal target.
Why do you think it is easier to make drastic changes to prevent progression of medical conditions on the word of man but complain about making drastic changes to prevent spiritual dehydration jeopardizing our soul’s salvation to eternal damnation?
Now, let us talk about spiritual dehydration. On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7:37-39)
From my personal perspective, due to corona virus, I believe one can quickly become spiritual dehydrated when connection to God through the mediator, Jesus the Christ, has been lost. Symptoms of spiritual dehydration of abled-body Christians are lack of worship to God causing one to feel weary towards Him; forsaking assembling together in worship services prior COVID-19 pandemic, lack of interest watching online sermons and Bible studies; not studying and meditating on God’s Word; and imitating worldly behavior in our words, thoughts, deeds and apparel. God said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:15-16)
Spiritual dehydration symptoms must be taken serious. Otherwise, conditions worsen and eventually obstruct the mind and body. It will definitely take a toll on our soul’s salvation if immediate corrective action is not taken. Just like Dr. G., expedited my blood work to evaluate the condition of my kidneys, God expedited His Son’s blood through His crucifixion knowing the condition of our soul.
God wishes no one to perish and told us through His word to save ourselves from this untoward generation. We must daily visit the only spiritual healing physician, Dr. Jesus, to fill our prescriptions with biblical commandments to refresh our soul.
I try not to let my kidneys thirst for water but Jesus thirsted for our soul and rose refreshed giving us the avenue for repentance. However, we can easily drift away to Satan’s workshop if we do not maintain our awareness and perform daily self-examination. Satan’s influence is no joke and should not be taken lightly. Remember, he even tried to entice Jesus.
How do we nourish and replenish our soul? We must consult the Bible for detailed instructions for mind, body and soul hydration.
