Rare Stones & Precious Jewels

“Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone clear as crystal,” (Revelation 21:11)

A diamond is carbon in a concentrated form, but it becomes the most precious gemstone in the world when mined, cut, and polished. “When Diamonds are formed, the pressure exceeds 700,000 psi and temperatures over 1200°C (2192°F).” Wow! That is extreme temperature and pressure under which form diamonds.

I will attempt to parallel diamonds’ formation and qualities to lives of Christians. On Saturday, August 24, 2019, I was honored to be a speaker at Central Church of Christ Women’s Lectures in Chiefland, Florida. Their awesome theme was “RARE STONES & PRECIOUS JEWELS” and my assigned topic was “Shining Bright Like A Diamond.” As children of the Most High, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, do you think of yourself as Diamonds?

We too have embedded within us diamond like qualities awaiting to be mined, cut and polished by our Master Jeweler, and we also must pass through extreme temperature, temptations and pressure in trials and tribulations.

A diamond is an object that is led through the process only by the hands of the jeweler. We too should allow the Hands of our Master Jeweler to lead us through our spiritual process to bring out magnificent radiance and stunning beauty that laid dormant.

After we have successfully gone through the process, we become the most precious gemstone in God’s sight and a bright light in the dark world. Eloquently describe is the beautiful outcome of being tested, The trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Our Master Jeweler commands us to shine so others can follow the SON light from the path of darkness. Therefore, it is imperative that our luminosity never dwindles, including on social media where darkness sometimes creeps out in our comments and immodestly apparel.

Unfortunately, not everyone makes it to the end of the process because of their love for gossiping, backbiting, unforgiving spirit, dressing immodestly, lying, jealousy, and crabs in the bucket pulling one another down and giving in to the lusts of the flesh.

The unique molecular structure of the carbon atoms makes a diamond very hard. As we allow the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead us, we will have His Diamond harden strength to withstand pressure from wiles of Satan. A diamond is the hardest known mineral and can only be cut by another diamond. Prayerfully, we are not cutting one another with our words, thoughts or deeds.

Diamonds are judged according to the four Cs: Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat. We can see here as well similarities with lives of Christians.

Cut. We become more valuable under the sharp edge of God’s word when pierced and shaped.

Clarity. Apostle Paul eloquently stated in Ephesians 5:17, we present ourselves to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that we should be holy and without blemish.

Color and Carat. God’s Diamonds will not be judged by the exterior color but by the content and quality of our interior which manifest in our behavior and speech. These character traits are developed in obedience to commandments of God.

Diamond processing does not happen overnight and neither do our transformation from sinners to saints revealing our true worth, value, and bring to surface our hidden treasures.

Diamonds are not cheap and neither are children of God, the Master Jeweler. We should not allow Satan’s evil employees on earth to entice us to exchange our expensive soul for the cheap world.

Yes! It is well known Jesus said some very difficult things that make people not want to follow Him, but we should demystify to others the essential of obeying the gospel of Jesus without adding or taking away from His Word.

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:7-9).

“And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. (Malachi 3:17)

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:2-4)

  1. What a beautiful and poignant post of the shaping we can experience from our Heavenly Papa. He is my King! And the 4c’s is a splendid way to understand the molding we must endure and become to be his messenger ~wise and “unchurchian” (I love that word you used). Let the diamonds sparkle and light the way. You are a rare and precious jewel my friend. 💎✨☀️💚
