But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, take no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself, sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:33-34
I have no doubt I am not alone wearing various hats of life or feeling sometimes divided by necessary distractions between the spiritual and carnal worlds. My heart desires to live only in the spiritual world leaving the carnal behind and out of mind sight. Does this sound like you? Can you relate?
In November 2002, I had a spiritual heart attack. For a while, I silently suffered from side effects of a divided heart because the word had not gotten into my bloodstream. It was difficult trying to withstand oppositions that pulled me from all sides. I was very disconsolate from being accused of becoming a member of a cult call Christianity. A decision was made to not fall into the category of wavering between truth and opinions of others. Have you experience a similar situation?
The perpetual merger of my now undivided heart was bonded by faith, prayer and God’s word. There is no doubt about distractions not continuing with interference in my life. However, my strength comes from the Lord, and my faith in Him comes first in the myriad of activities in my life as I go forth in the burgeoning years serving Him.
Satan knows our weaknesses and uses those who are willing to do his evil bidding on earth. Evil people entice us in hope of causing symptoms leading to spiritual heart failure. Be mindful that sin weakens our hearts with irregular praying causing hyperventilation, resistant to the word of God and decreased spiritual appetite for biblical obedience. For example, during worship service our minds become focused on things which are not pleasing to God such as gossip, hatred, anger, worry, resentment, guilt, blame, jealousy and wishing the preacher would sit down; and finally doing the Demas returning to the world.
Satan knows exactly when to poke his evil workers as we go about business as usual unaware of his strike as we presumptuously continue making future plans even though our lives are a vapor; here this second and gone the next without warning. Therefore, our relationship with the Lord should not be fictitious only fooling ourselves. We please Satan with lying tongues claiming to be drawn to God but actually honoring Him with vain lip service. Ungodly words we convey and behavior displayed online and offline make it very obvious who has our allegiance. “For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.” (Proverbs 4:16)
We should not allow others to weaken our hearts decreasing blood flow causing cardiac arrest no longer able to digest biblical nourishment. For those who make it out of the intensive care unit alive still have hope of a renewed spirit in the Lord.
As this tie in with my blog, I share the following devotion received from one of my spiritual mothers, Sister Copeland. It is titled The Christ Within Renews My Spirit, and reads as follows: “I take time for the renewal of my mind and body. I feel God within and all around me, filling my soul with love and joy. There is unlimited proof of the Divine when I choose to see with my spiritual vision. I watch little children find joy and amazement in the smallest things. I encounter random acts of kindness in my daily life. Each time I look with my divine nature, I am renewed by what I see.
I am heir to abundant, reviewing energy within and outside of me. It is always there, even if I don’t feel it. Sharing words and acts of love giving back as God has given to me, I impart divine love to others and my spirit is renewed.”
Life after my spiritual heart attack is truly joyous and full of worship and thankfulness. The cost counted to follow Jesus was a wise decision. I need a Savior to help keep my spiritual vision to avoid detours from evil distractions and help renew my spiritual energy on this sometime weary road. What about you? Are you avoiding things and people that could possibly lead you to having spiritual heart failure?
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” She saith unto him, “Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world”. –John 11:25-27. Do you believe Jesus will return?
It is easy to give up things to secure the health of our temporary bodies but hard to give up sin to secure our souls’ salvation. – Tangie T. Woods

So much truth here. The spiritual attack can be just as real as the physical, and the consequences of the spiritual will have eternal results! The enemy of our soul is after our souls, and we must remain sober and vigilant to be ready to fight him. We must trust and choose Christ and allow Him to finish His work! … ps. Thanks for the recent follow.

I had never thought of referring to times in the valley as a spiritual heart attack, but it is the perfect way to describe those dark times.

If the world would walk in truth, we would have little to no wars and distractions. In the meantime we need to keep praying.😊🙏👣

Good evening, Sister Woods. To answer your question: “What about you? Are you avoiding things and people that could possibly lead you to having spiritual heart failure?” my honest answer is “NO”! It’s impossible to avoid future nuisances unless you are a practicing soothsayer. So I earnestly solicit your wifely-pastorial advice for suggestions. As you know by visiting several of my Christian blogs on Conversations With God Using Scripture, I am a devoted lover of Jesus Christ and have related several personal experiences of spiritual warfare that have caused me to fall short of representing the Father and His teachings. I look forward to another post by you on this subject. Hopefully, it will be a personal one. May God continue to bless your insight and comfort to others. Your Sister in Christ…

Thank you for reading, commenting, asking questions and for your kind words of encouragement. I am speaking in the present and agree it is impossible to know what the future holds. (James 4:13-15). However, each day God allows us to live we must maintain our spiritual glow and separate ourselves from those who dim our light. (I Corinthians 15:33)
I definitely understand experiencing spiritual warfare and we all fall short sometimes on our Christian journey. (Romans 3:23) But we straighten it out with the Lord through repentance and asking for forgiveness.
Check out MRS. T’S CORNER for many personal experiences (not included in awards posting).
Remain safe in the arms of the Lord.
