Who defines true beauty? Hollywood? Magazine Publishers? Or God? I recently watched a 36 series course titled “Warriors, Queens, and Intellectuals: 36 Great Women before 1400.” These women did amazing things but some used their outer beauty to conquer hearts of kings, emperors and other high ranking officials for the purpose of having them assassinated or overthrown. If succeeded, their minor sons would become kings and emperors with their mothers serving as regents. As regents, mothers acted on behalf of sons and attained power, wealth and highly favored positions to rule countries. I am thankful that our King of kings and Lord of lords cannot be persuaded, overthrown or assassinated.
What did God tell Satan about his beauty? “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So, I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.” (Ezekiel 28:17) We see again God is displease with those who thinks highly of their outer beauty.
We learn about another well-known biblical figures in Judges 16:4-7; “Sometime later, he fell in love with a [beautiful] woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah. The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver. So, Delilah said to Samson, “Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued. Samson answered her, “If anyone ties me with seen fresh bowstrings that have not been dried, I’ll become as weak as any other man.”
What does God say about beauty? Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:30-31
I Peter 3:3-4 sheds light on God’s goal for His daughters. Peter is speaking specifically to wives, but this applies to all women who seek biblical womanhood: “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is great worth to God. Peter is not condemning outer beauty but a redirection of focus.
At some point scriptures have to go from being highlighted in Bibles to life application and renewed minds knowing there has to be more within us to know what is pleasing to God. (Romans 12:2)
Is your journey approved by the Lord? (Judges 18:6).

1Peter 3:3-4 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. Beauty radiates from the inside out. Great blog Tangie. The message is so true. I congratulate you.

Dynamic thoughts, I liked when you stated, that we must get passed just highlighting text in the Bible to life application and the renewing of the mind! It is time to apply what we have highlighted in text and demonstrate! It was awesome reading!

Great words Tangie. The story of Sampson is a great one. He is humbled in the end and pays a dear price. Beautiful women can have beautiful hearts. It is amazing how when you really get to know someone extremely well and they have a beautiful, and loving spirit, just how wonderfully beautiful they become on the outside. Just as a physically beautifully woman can become unattractive due to their unattractive behaviors. Thank you for your post Tangie. You always lift up the Gracious words of our Father. We were studying about Solomon this morning. He was lead away from God by his 700 wives and 300 concubines. He was unable to keep Gods commands as David his father did. I am so grateful for Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins. I know I would never be able to keep God’s commandments even for one day. You are spreading God’s words and touching souls Tangie what a wonderful blessing you are. Much love to you my friend. From Joni in NC. Have a blessed Sabbath. Hello Joni, I agree with your assessment and you are welcome. I too am very grateful for Jesus and His sacrifice. God allowed man to develop technological tools and we should use them wisely and continue spreading His word. The pandemic halted some things but not us from witnessing to others (Matthew 28:19-20). You have a wonderful evening and be safe. In Christian Love…

hollyweird and the entertainment industry do a lot to harm girls and young women causing them to not see themselves as God created them but have a false image of what they are and what their true potential in the Kingdom is. I always taught my daughters that Jesus doesn’t care what’s on the outside, something can happen to that but He cares what’s in your heart and how you treat people.

Herb, you are absolutely right about the harm caused to girls and young women by the entertainment industry; it is so sad how they are preyed upon. Thank you for sharing comments and be safe.
