“When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty.” Jeremiah 15:16
Why do we not doubt the existence of the invisible COVID-19 virus? Is it because the Center for Disease Control and nations’ leaders told us it exists? Do we believe it exists because hundreds of thousands are showing symptoms and hundreds of thousands have died? Many in the world, including me, are obeying rules to stay in the house, and if going outside practice social distancing. We might not like it but obey to sustain our lives. Romans 13:1-2, instructs us to obey the laws of the land when not contrary to God’s laws.
What happens when there is no food in your house? Would you starve or go to the supermarket? Since March 30th, I have been out the house three times only going to the supermarket and medical appointments. The first trip to the supermarket I was shocked by the long line of people outside. Finally, I was allowed to go inside to see mostly empty shelves and a few available items that were limited to two per person.
Why do we go to extremes stocking up food to nourish our bodies but allow our spirituality to starve?
We believe and obey rules regarding the invisible COVID-19 virus but often struggle to obey the laws of righteousness because God is invisible. Romans 1:20 tells us…
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
Let me tell you about my daily visit to the worldwide supermarket despite COVID-19. This supermarket has no line, no purchase limitation and the entire world can go inside at the same time without practicing social distancing; and it is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
When walking inside this one of a kind supermarket, I get everything possible to nourish my spirituality. Another advantage in this supermarket is I am allowed to eat as much as I desire to stay on Matthew 7:14 strait and narrow road to eternal life through the worldwide supermarket call The Bible.
I love indulging in this supermarket because it is the mind of God. Think about it, we indulge, and sometimes over indulge, in whatever we choose. Do we over indulge in studying and meditating on the Word of God?
For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:33-35
I gladly share with you some of my favorite spiritual food purchased a couple of days ago. I started in II Peter 2 and picked up priceless items such as precious faith through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ and all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that called us to glory and virtue. The special treats on this aisle are diligence, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience; godliness brotherly kindness and charity. What I like most about going into this supermarket is I can afford to over indulge on His word without guilt.
Next, I went to aisle Colossians 1:9-10 to get the desire to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, and to walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
I complimented my mind with eating Proverbs 4:7; the aisle with wisdom and understanding. While on this aisle, I grabbed strength and knowledge from Proverbs 24:5. and picked up other spiritual nourishing items in I Corinthians 12:8; Romans 10:17; I Corinthians 10:31 & 11:1; I Corinthians 8:1; II Peter 1:5; Colossians 1:9-10; I Timothy 4:16; Matthew 7:1-5; Acts 8:26; Acts 10; Acts 18; I Kings 3; I Samuel 25; and Proverbs 1:7.
These are just a few items I picked up to nourish my mind, body and spirituality on my personal Christian journey. I never have to think about going over budget since Jesus paid it all when He allowed Himself to be crucified on a cross and rose to life again to pay the debt for our sins. Despite our disobedience He left us the most important gift, the Holy Spirit.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
What is more important than to be nourished with the Word of the Faith and Word of Life that lead to eternal salvation?
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37
Jesus died for us and left the spiritual supermarket fully stocked with every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Deuteronomy 8:3 and Matthew 4:4).
The importance of the conclusion is not providing the body food to sustain life on earth but to fear God, obey His commandments and keep our spirituality well-nourished.
I hope this blog gave you a taste of what is inside the spiritual supermarket.
Do not let the taste of the forbidden fruit cost you the taste of heaven. — Tangie T. Woods

People tend to fear men than God who is the creator. You don’t need virus to kill people but you need hunger. Soon, people will start eating their children to survive – it has happened before.

A lovely and well written post. You are so correct to point out that we will go above and beyond to feed the body but neglect the soul.
