Introducing Deacon Joe Nichols and his lovely wife Nicki. Joe grew up in the Roanoke area of Virginia and obeyed the gospel when he was just a boy. At that time, he and his family attended Lake Drive church of Christ. After graduating high school, Joe attended Freed-Hardeman University where he met his future wife Nicki Savage.
Nicki attended Pennington Bend church of Christ where she obeyed the gospel when she was a youth living in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
Joe gave Nicki a necklace with a two-piece Mizpah coin for their first Christmas during their dating period. The coin inscribed with the verse “also Mizpah”, because he said, “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from another.” (Genesis 31:49) This became a part of the foundation of their relationship and has served as reminder of their love for each other and for God.
Joe and Nicki married in 1994 after transferring from Freed-Hardeman University to Tennessee Technological University (TTU) in Cookeville, TN. While finishing their degrees at TTU, Joe was afforded the opportunity to intern with the youth program with the Jefferson Avenue church of Christ in Cookeville. They remained in Cookeville after both graduating from TTU.
Joe worked as an engineer and construction manager and is now part owner with a local engineering firm. Nicki taught one year at a local school and then became a full-time homemaker while homeschooling their two children. Throughout the years, Joe and Nicki continue working with the youth programs as well as teaching bible classes.
Nicki and I discovered each other from the church of Christ Ladies Day Speakers database. Our like-minded spirit in the Lord immediately connected. We have been on an amazing blogging journey together and have developed a wonderful spiritual friendship. As a matter of fact, along with our daughters Ashley and Audriana; Nicki and her daughter Cecily patiently helped me develop and launch my blog. She is just an amazing sister-in-Christ and our connection feels as though we have known each other for years. Our togetherness was definitely divine intervention and I pray our friendship continues to blossom in the Lord. NOTE: She is responsible for my new blog theme.
https://mynicholsworth.blog is Nicki’s blog site. I encourage you to check it out and consider following her blog. You will not be disappointed.
Currently, Joe is deacon over the youth at their current congregation Willow Avenue church of Christ in Cookeville. Joe and Nicki have enjoyed working jointly with youth programs throughout their marriage, and were blessed last year to participate in their first youth/family mission trip together. They are in the midst of making plans for the upcoming July 2020 mission trip.
Lord willing, on Saturday, March 7, 2020, Nicki will be speaking at Hickory College Church of Christ Ladies Day Program in Summer Shade, Kentucky. The program starts at 10:00 a.m., to 12:00 p.m. Ladies, if in the vicinity, please feel free to attend.
Joe and Nicki have a daughter, son, and son-in-law.
