“The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed” ~ Titus 2:3-5.
Who is a spiritual mother? A spiritual mother is a biblical nourished woman of wisdom who imparts spiritual nourishment to younger women’s souls. How? By offering encouragement, admonition and reproof. Spiritual mothers serve in their own unique ways living out their calling to ensure their spiritual daughters benefit from their experiences. Spiritually speaking, they show interest in the lives of their spiritual daughters. They are authentic women who create a space where their spiritual daughters can grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” ~ II Peter 3:18.
I am blessed with five spiritual mothers, two in Gainesville and three in Montgomery. Today’s blog is about my Gainesville spiritual mothers: Sisters Barbara Copeland and Gertha Dickerson. Sister Copeland and Sister Dickerson truly exemplify instructions in Titus 2:3-5. They took me under their wings to ensure that I increase in grace and knowledge. Their encouragement to shine for the Lord in my spiritual growth and endeavors is priceless.
During our quality time together, Sisters Dickerson and Copeland impart a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to nourish my mind and soul. Our times are very special and beautiful memories are being formed. They are chaste women pure in speech, thought and actions. Ladies, enjoy and love your biblical nourished spiritual mothers. I am!
Blog about my Montgomery spiritual mothers is forthcoming.
I enjoyed reading the beautiful article about Spiritual Mothers. It is great to pin flowers while they can be enjoyed. A great work Tangie.

Thank you Sister Carr. I look forward to pinning flowers on you, Sister Powell and Sister Mathews in a blog. You three ladies were my support system during a very sad and bad time of my life, and today you are still with me. I love you and hope to make a trip home early next year Lord willing.

Hello Pam, spiritual mothers must be willing to embrace and teach younger women not only with words, but by the way they live their lives. My five spiritual mothers are God sent. I show them love by remaining steadfast in the faith and living my life in ways so they see that their love, example and guidance are not in vain. Thank you for reading and sharing feedback.
