One Classy Lady!

“Christians should never be in position of fearing death” ~ Ruth Williams

This blog is written in memory of The Late Ruth Williams. A faithful sister-in-Christ who worshiped at the Northside Church of Christ congregation in Lake City, Florida.

Ruth was my friend, my sister-in-Christ and one of my three spiritual mentors. She touched many lives and her genuine love for God was obvious by the way she lived her life. She had a respectable reputation based on consistency of her visible love for God, for her biological and spiritual families, and her students. Her profession of godliness matched her behavior in words, in thoughts and in deeds.

Ruth was known amongst everyone as being trustworthy and dependable. Her words spoke volume. Wow! My heart aches due to the death of this classy lady who is no longer a part of my life. However, I am blessed to have known her in a very special way. We spent hours talking about the Lord and about our joint spiritual endeavors of writing spiritual books and making YouTube videos of Women’s Bible discussions to edify and encourage the sisterhood. We were likeminded on the importance of community evangelism.

On the morning of Wednesday, August 28, 2019, I texted her eagerly awaiting her reply. Instead, I received the news of her unexpected death. I was Speechless!

This classy lady refrained from bringing reproach against God and the Church.

This classy lady was dignified and dressed modestly.

This classy lady was wise, intelligent and knowledgeable in scriptures. She knew her worth but remained humble.

This classy lady was always a pleasure to be around and she spoke with confidence about her relationship with God.

This classy lady was sincere in all she did and said. She offered help to all who needed it.

This classy lady always responded in love and had a heart of gratitude. She actively listened to me without interruptions. I have no doubt she was the same with everyone that she engaged in conversations.

This classy lady spoke faithfully and was rooted in God.

This classy lady was God’s Diamond on earth. Wow! We had so many plans but God had other plans for His hard fighting soldier Ruth.

This classy lady is gone from my life but never from my heart.

  1. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. What a beautiful sentiment about Ms Ruth and her influence in your life and within the church.
During times like this, humans have a difficult time understanding that death is not a sad time for someone who has the reward to live eternally with the Lord.
I pray God brings you comfort with all your wonderful memories of your friend. You are blessed to know that you will be enjoying her company again when she meets you in paradise.

  2. Minister Adrian Harper jr. made known to the S.E. 10th Ave. Church of Christ about Sis. Ruth’s passing and those of us that knew who he was speaking about was totally speechless and our thoughts were scrambling! Minister Harper, description of her as someone he served with at the Northside Church of Christ in Lakecity, he highly respected and admired her love and trust for The Gospel of Jesus Christ as well as her high volume of servitude. I must acknowledge that, I wished I had known her. You have written such a beautiful and impactful blog in memory of her and everyone that knew her smiles when her name is mentioned and the beloved words of how their lives changed once she entered into it, is simply amazing to me! Sis. Tangie, you were truly blessed to have known her.

Your depiction of Sis. Ruth is beautiful and passionate. You have been blessed to have such a knowledgeable and patient mentor and friend in the Lord. Keep the legacy you two started going and don’t allow Satan to entertain through your emotions.

    1. Thank you. I was truly blessed with her love and friendship. She was definitely patient until I met her expectation with my writing skills. I often joked with her saying she was like my husband when it came to me transitioning from writing for the government to writing my own thoughts. They both had a job! I really appreciate your feedback and encouragement.

  6. Your words had to come from the heart. I also knew Ruth to be one of the best. She was with me at CHS and later she would mentor and support Saint Leo students, studying to become teachers. I now wish I had visited her Wed. Night Bibke classes. I truly loved and respected her.
